Essence de Provence started back in 1994 when I stashed a few favorite products from the markets of Provence in my suitcase. If these were the souvenirs I would choose, maybe others would like the same items. The lavender bouquet, lavender soap and lavender sachets were a big hit. I met the lavender farmer by chance in her field and arranged a shipment with her back in 1995 and that was the beginning of Essence de Provence.

I sold these products to a few boutiques, then some catalogs and in 1998 my dear friend Lisa joined me and started managing the website. She is salesperson extraordinaire, very organized and great with customers. We compliment and work together very well. Solving many of the world’s problems at the market, and on long international flights.

We visit Provence every fall to purchase the lavender (once it is dried), along with all of the other products offered. Some items like soap, we do not and could  not improve upon. Many items however are imported as raw materials, (lavender bouquets, bulk flowers, and kilo drums of essential oil). From these we create wreaths, candles, solid lotion, pillows, sachets & mist. The products are shipped from this remote farm in France to Lincoln, Nebraska.

Please let us know which products you enjoy, and if there are other’s you like us to make or find for you in France. We encourage you to share your thoughts via the Comments section.

We also do the Lincoln Farmer's Market and frequently sell at the Omaha Farmer’s Market, as well as some local festivals and fairs. Please click on the link to the left to see our schedule. If you happen to be in the area, please stop by. We also host a tour to Provence at the peak of the lavender season. See the link at the left for this information.
